An old three story penthouse in terrible conditions was fully remodeled by Paula Martins Arquitetura, Interiores e Detalhamento for a family with two adolescents. The windows face Guanabara’s Bay with an astonishing view of Rio de Janeiro and both the Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer.
Most of the original walls were demolished and the areas were rearrangedin order to create open spaces and also to integrate each bathroom to its bedroom. The very dark interior and heavy atmosphere was replaced by lots of light and open spaces. The façades and roofs were insulated and all the outside walls were covered with tiles to avoidconstant maintain.
