The house designd by Rex Lin Architects is situated in a heritage overlay zone with height control. The site area is approximately 808 sqm and has a steep slope from the entry to the back. The design has radically modified the slope to create a flat level for the entire internal space and garden, making it user-friendly and complying with the height restriction from a covenant on the title. The street is on the south, providing a preferred orientation to the site and offering the northern sunny side to the private open space. The entry of the 3-storey residence is set at the street level, which is about one level down from its eastern and northern neighbors. The upper level is the private realm, consisting of a master bedroom, a second bedroom, and a study. The family area is located on the ground floor, where two major living spaces flank the main gallery space that reaches both the basement floor and the first floor. A Japanese-style dry garden is located on the south outside of the lounge/library, and a stone-paved northern courtyard runs the family room, providing a perfect outdoor living space with a reflective pool around
