Playa del Rey Residence by West Edge Architects

Playa del Rey Residence is a project designed by West Edge Architects. While remaining programmatically similar to the original ocean-view house, this project has transformed it completely. The roof of the existing house was removed and replaced by a curved roof that created spaces for clerestory windows at the heart of the house. The front of the house was demolished so that the floor of the main living areas could be lowered, creating taller spaces without adjusting the height of the second floor. Extensive use of glass doors and clerestory windows opens the house to the ocean views and breezes. Photography by Taiyo Watanabe.

Casa Correia by Renato Cintra Arquitectos

Casa Correia is a project designed by Renato Cintra Arquitectos. Located in the historic centre of Lagos, next to the city wall, this House benefits from the proximity of the river mouth and the beautiful bay. On southeastern days, you can hear the crashing waves and smell the sea air. Nearby is the Governors’ Castle, where Prince Henry the Navigator lived, and the Ponta da Bandeira Fort, an ex-libris of maritime fortifications. Photography by Ivo Tavares Studio.

Hermosa Beach Residence Remodel is a project by West Edge Architects. Beyond its location, our clients were drawn to the detached row house in Hermosa Beach principally because of the vaulted ceiling running almost the full length of the second floor. Connected to the ground floor by a two story entrance and stair space, the second level includes the principal living spaces, along with the master bedroom and outdoor decks on both the street and rear yard ends of the house. Two smaller bedrooms and a shared bath occupy the ground floor along with the main entrance to the house, located mid-way between the street and rear yard. Photography by Taiyo Watanabe.
