CAMPout is a project designed by Faulkner Architects with interior design by NICOLEHOLLIS. A San Francisco family asked us to help them expand an existing property near Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The site sits on a north facing slope and looks down to the Martis Valley and up to Lookout Mountain through a natural screen of 100-year-old Jeffrey pine trees. This stunning renovation project in southwest London showcases the power of thoughtful design in connecting spaces and transforming a home. The project, led by COX ARCHITECTS, involved creating a beautiful helical staircase to link the upper and lower ground floors of a large semi-detached Victorian Villa, maximizing the potential of the property’s 570m² site. Water’s Edge is a project designed by A Parallel Architecture. The genesis of this design lay in establishing logic and order on the flat site through architectural definition of use-patterns that provide sanctuary and scale for its inhabitants. The result is a regularized cartesian framework with porous and flexible infill walls. These walls can transform hourly and seasonally as needed to take advantage of the lakeside setting and respond to environmental factors. Knightsbridge apartment interior is a project designed by Gregory Phillips Architects. Complete strip-out and extensive refurbishment of a Knightsbridge apartment. The existing apartment layout was reconfigured to make the most of the given areas while considering the clients’ needs and requirements. This refurbishment included the renewal of most of the mechanical and electrical services taking into consideration the constraints of working within an existing building. With exceptional views of Hyde Park as well as the rest of London, the apartment has three bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and an open plan living, dining and kitchen space. Photography by Andrew Beasley.
Pocket Passiv by Anderson Architecture is a small infill residential studio occupying the unused space of a spatially constrained inner-city terrace house corner block. The project achieves ambitious levels of amenity for its residents all whilst occupying the ‘pocket-sized’ footprint of 27sqm. Located in Glebe, a thriving inner-city suburb originally inhabited by the Gadigal people, Pocket Passiv sits within a relic of Sydney’s 19th century Victorian terrace house boom. SCH House is a project designed by Ollech + Tol. A villa built on three levels, combining floating stone above a glass box and a rooftop pool, overlooking the unique landscape of the Jerusalem hills. This house features several unique elements, including a seven-and-a-half-meter staircase that was dropped as a single unit from the roof directly to the center of the space. In this villa, the rules for using Jerusalem stone on the facade were redefined, while the planners also tackled challenging topography and even fulfilled a small dream for the homeowner at the entrance. In the highest part of a condominium in Itaipava, country side of Rio de Janeiro, in an environment surrounded by lush forests and breathtaking views, is this country residence, designed to bring family and friends together. This particular urban house by Muro Studio of 140m2 is located in a small street passage called “la blanqueada”, in a residential area of Villa Devoto, Buenos Aires City. Its name comes not only from the passage where it’s located but also from the color of its walls -blanqueada means whitened-. La Blanqueada was born as a complex project, the original house was found in very bad condition, counting with only certain elements to preserve. In addition, being the lot right before the corner and of a bare surface of 8,66m x 12,70m, the darkness was complete. Photography by mul.raw.
